Parents are always looking for an inexpensive, creative project for the classroom or home, or to contribute to the school holiday party. Here is a dirt cheap, superfun idea that the kids and teachers will love.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A bunch of old crayons.
  • A holiday themed cupcake pan (with holiday shapes, ie. heart shaped cupcake pan for Valentines day)
  1. Step 1

Have kids peel any paper off the crayons and break up into chunks. (Don't they always want to do that anyway??)

  2. Step 2

Mix the different colored chunks together to distribute colors.
Fill up cupcake pans with crayon chunks.

  3. Step 3

Bake at 250 degrees for ten minutes, or until crayon has melted together.

  4. Step 4

Remove from oven and let cool completely. After cooled, remove shapes from pan.

  5. Step 5

Smooth edges by rubbing along paper.
    DONE!
Put in ziplock bags, tie with a ribbon and distribute to the whole class!
The kids now have their very own, homemade, multicolored crayon to experiment with!

Tips & Warnings
  • Kids will have a blast preparing the crayons with you, but please do not involve them in the baking process, as the pans and melted wax will be extremely hot.
