How to make an easy pork chop dish for your parents

We all have parents, or people who raised us. Once in awhile you can make them a nice meal with a little effort because as they say, "food is love.." so why not make this special dish and show them how much your care.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • pork chops (six)
  • apples (three)
  • carrots (one frozen packet)
  • onions (two)
  • sage (1.5 tblspn)
  • salt (1.5 tblspsn)
  • pepper (1/4 tblspn)
  • brown sugar
  • oven (350 degrees)
  • broiler pan with lid or foil pan with tin foil to cover

Step1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Take pork chops out of packet and rinse under cold water. Pat with paper towels if you have them.
Step2
Mix salt, pepper and sage in a shallow dish. dip pork chops in mixture and rub gently on both sides, enough to cover. Set aside.
Step3
Chop onion in to small pieces. Take carrot and line bottom of broiling pan. Cover with half the chopped onion. Place pork chops in pan overlapping slightly.
Step4
Core, peel and chop apple. Put remaining onion on top of pork chops. If there is any spice mix left, cover onion and pork chops. Put apple on top of onions. Cover with 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Cover pan. Place in oven and bake for 2 hours. Every so ofen spoon juices over pork.
Step5
After two hours take lid off of broiler and let cook for thirty more minutes. When completed you can remove to serving dish. Serve with mashed potatoes or canned potatoes and a nice green vegetable like spinach.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add a nice table cloth and dishes you can pick up at a thrift store and dollar store glasses to really set the mood.
  • A nice French White table wine would dress this up. Use dollar store wine glasses if possible.
  • Do not over cook!
  • Do not undercook!
  • If your oven burns hot you might want to decrease the time. you can use a meat thermometer to check the done ness. You can usually find these in a dollar store or thrift store!
  • Make sure they can have pork in their diet!
