How to Make Frozen Jack-O-Lantern Treats

These are fun treats to make for Halloween and are great for after trick or treating!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 12 Naval oranges
  • 12 Cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 gallon chocolate ice cream
  1. Step 1

    Cut off tops of oranges.

  2. Step 2

    Hollow out the pulp leaving a thick shell. Also hollow out the pulp off the tops too.

  3. Step 3

    Cut jack-o-lantern faces into the oranges.

  4. Step 4

    Pack the ice cream into the shells. Try not to let the ice cream come out of the holes.

  5. Step 5

    Cut a small hole in the center of the orange top.

  6. Step 6

    Put tops back on oranges over the ice cream. Put a cinnamon stick through the hole on the top of the orange.

  7. Step 7

    Place in freezer for at least 3 hours before serving.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can set the oranges in muffin tins to hold them while they are in the freezer.

on 12/2/2007 Hey I never thought of this one. My kids would love it and the muffin holder method is a great one. When I go to cook muffins in my house I always have to go on a pan hunt as they are holding other things all the time. Keep writing and I will be watching for more kid friendly articles if you have them.
