  • 1 lb. spaghetti pasta
  • 1 bottle extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 lb. ground beef or ground turkey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 jar (1 lb 10 oz../737g) Prego Fresh Mushroom spaghetti sauce
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 2 tbsps. sugar

  1. Prepare the Spaghetti and Meat Sauce

    • 1

      Fill a large pot 3/4 full of water and bring to a boil. Add a pinch of salt and a sprinkle of olive oil to the boiling water then add spaghetti. Cook spaghetti between four to six minutes or until firm. Drain spaghetti and put aside.

      Cook the meat. Cover the bottom of a large skillet with olive oil and add in 1 lb. of ground beef or ground turkey. Break up meat with spatula and cook until no longer pink, then drain excess juices from meat.

      Prepare spaghetti sauce. Cover the bottom of a large pot with olive oil and heat over medium heat. Add four cloves of minced garlic to pot and sauté for two minutes. Add one chopped medium onion and three chopped medium tomatoes to garlic and cook between 15 and 20 minutes. Once the tomatoes and onions have softened, pour in one jar of Prego Fresh Mushroom spaghetti sauce, add cooked meat and cook an additional 15 minutes. Stir in 1/4 cup of fresh chopped basil, 2 tbsps. sugar and cook until the basil softens and the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

      Combine cooked meat and spaghetti sauce into one pot and stir.

      Serve spaghetti and meat sauce. Place desired portion of spaghetti and meat sauce on a dinner plate and cover with Kraft Grated Parmesan Cheese..
