My mother always came up with the best ideas for solving lifes little problems. One of those was preventing lint from the washing machine from going down the drain.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • One pair of pantyhose, preferably with a run (since you won't need them anymore)
  • String

Step1
Find a pair of pantyhose that you won't be using anymore and cut in half.
Step2
Attach one of the pantyhose halves to the hose coming out of your washing machine and into your sink using the string. Be sure to tie tightly.
Step3
Wash a load of laundry and you'll see the lint gathering at the bottom near the pantyhose toe.
Step4
Use the other half of the cut pantyhose once the lint is about 3-4 inches deep.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure there are no holes in the toes, otherwise the lint will just go right through the hose and into your sink and drain.
