Instructions

    • 1

Cover your work area with the newspaper. Cut either 3 or 6 cups from an egg carton to form the caterpillar body. Remember not to cut in between each cup, you should have a strip of cups.

    • 2

Using a toothpick, an adult should make 2 small holes in the top of one of the cups that makes the end of the chain. This will be the caterpillar's antennae holes.

    • 3

Thread a pipe cleaner through the holes. The ends can be curled if you wish to form curly antennae.

    • 4

Use glue stick to add eyes. The googly eyes that shake are great as it gives the face character.

    • 5

After the glue has dried, draw or paint a mouth and eyes on the cup that has the antennae.

    • 6

Use the colored markers, crayons, or paint to decorate the rest of the body. Let children do this on their own and encourage self-expression.

Tips & Warnings

  • Using scented markers will not only look pretty, it will smell wonderful, too.

  • Children should never work with sharp objects without adult supervision.
