Fit your child's bike with a pair of reflective tires that will make her more visible both day and night. Be sure to choose a proper-fitting bike helmet, which is paramount in bike safety. Look for one that adjusts easily and that can grow with your child.

Remember the must-have bike accessories. Any child will appreciate a pair of streamers and the classic ding of a bell. Both have been updated for today's child: bike streamers can be found in an array of colors, and bells are now offered in waterproof materials. If your new rider is a girl, give her a doll basket, which attaches easily to handlebars.
