How to Find a Bird for a Country House

If you have a country house, finding a bird becomes an incredibly easy task. You don't have to worry about bothering the neighbors with the loud squawks and singing of some birds, and you may have the ability to offer more space to your bird as well.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open your mind up to larger, louder birds. Larger, louder birds can't easily live in homes where space is at a premium and the neighbors are close. Birds like macaws make great country house birds because they are large, beautiful, friendly and love to talk loudly to you.

  2. Step 2

Consider conures, lories, lorikeets and cockatoos. These are all larger birds that can be on the loud side at times. These breeds require the space of a country house to function and thrive. Conures are typically 8 to 18 inches in size and cockatoos can be up to 28 inches.

  3. Step 3

Read country magazines for bird offers. Many bird breeders advertise in country magazines, as this tends to be a large audience for them. Country magazines often feature articles about bird ownership, as well. Look in the avian section of the classified sections of these magazines for breeders who specialize in birds for country homes.

  4. Step 4

Look at your specific bird needs. If you want a talking bird, your options are wide open in a country house. If you're looking for a companion bird that thrives off being around people, you can find that too.
