Yurts can best be described as some of the world's first trailer parks. Originating in the Mongolian culture, Yurts are portable homes that existed thousands of years ago. Modern technology from NASA has allowed these arctic homes to attain comfortable temperature. Today, Yurts are used to create cozy atmospheres in cold vacation areas. Eating at a Yurt restaurant can also be a rare experience.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Keep an open mind. Dining in a Yurt environment is a once in a lifetime experience. The fear of being uncomfortable or learning something new can make a newbie hesitant. Put on an extra sweater and get going.

  2. Step 2

Feel the indoor/outdoor experience. One of the things that makes a Yurt experience unique is the face that nature may be seen and heard, but not necessarily felt in all its glory. Be prepared to hear the wind whistling while snow flurries obscure the skies. Sip on a nice warm drink and enjoy the weather.

  3. Step 3

Take the scenic route to get there. The weather outside may be very frightful, but soon a fire will be delightful. Bear the chill for the distance it takes to ride to a remote cliff in a mountain. Maybe a sleigh ride will be available. Enjoy the climb to the remote destination.

  4. Step 4

Enjoy gourmet dining. Meat and potatoes will not be on the Yurt menu. Be prepared for exotic meats like Kobe steaks or savory appetizers like mussel soup. The evening that started with a ride to a beautifully frigid locale ends with an enticing meal of new flavors with old friends.
