Step 1
Remove the aerator from the sink faucet closest to the waterbed's location. If the sink doesn't have a screw-off aerator, you must use another sink that does.
-
Step 2
Attach the faucet connector (purchased separately in a waterbed maintenance kit) to the faucet.
-
Step 3
Attach the garden hose to the faucet connector, making sure it is fully tightened. Run water through the hose for 2 minutes to clean it out and ensure clean water goes into your bed. Simply stick the end of the hose back into the sink so the water has somewhere to go—other than your floor. If any water sprays from the faucet connector or the hose, drape a towel over it to keep the spray under control.
-
Step 4
Add the waterbed conditioner to the empty mattress and then begin filling with water at room temperature or warm water until it fills to within 1/4" to 1/2" from the bed frame. Shut off the water and remove the hose.
-
Step 5
Lay a broom handle across the top of the mattress and smooth it down over the bed from top to bottom to remove air bubbles. Repeat this again in 3 days.
-
Step 6
Insert the plug into the valve and screw on the cap. Adjust the temperature to 85 degrees to start. After 3 days you can adjust this up or down to your liking.
