How to Join the VFW

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) organization offers supports its members with direct aid and political lobbying efforts. You can help this mission by joining the organization, provided you meet its qualifications.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Determine eligibility. In order to be eligible for membership in the VFW, a veteran must have received a campaign medal for overseas service; served 30 consecutive days in Korea; served 60 nonconsecutive days in Korea or received hostile fire or imminent danger pay

  2. Step 2

    Complete an online application from vfw.org. Enter your basic demographic information, the location of service and type of membership desired. An annual membership is $35 dollars. Lifetime memberships are also available based on your year of birth. The prices rage from $170 dollars to $425 dollars.

  3. Step 3

    Find a local post. Visit jointheelite.org and select the Find a Post option under Community. The site will require a zip code and a mile radius from that zip code. An address and phone number will be supplied for every location that matches the request.

  4. Step 4

    Take advantage of the perks. VFW members receive membership benefits. They range from computer discounts to long term care insurance. This organization has made a significant effort to improve the lives of veterans.
