Snooker is a centuries old cue game that is still one of the most popular games in places like the U.K. Although similar in style and play to pool and billiards, snooker requires slightly different equipment to play properly. If you are looking to get your hands on some high quality snooker gear, follow these steps to buy the right equipment.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Think about what kind of equipment you need. If you are starting from scratch, then the main question you need to ask yourself is if you want all of your gear to meet international snooker standards. Also consider how much space you have for the equipment and what you budget is like so that you can buy the right equipment at the right price.

  2. Step 2

Buy a table. Snooker tables come in many forms and sizes. You can buy a small, "domestic" table that is a compact version of larger tables. Also, you can choose between snooker tables that double as dining tables or you can buy fold-away or full length and weight tables. Check out snooker table outlets such as Hamilton Billiards to shop for the right table.

  3. Step 3

Get a set of balls. Because snooker balls have a specific weight and size, you need to buy snooker-specific balls so that you play with a regulation set. You can buy a relatively inexpensive set of snooker balls, such as the one made by Pinpoint. Keep in mind that snooker balls must have a diameter of 52.5 mm and cannot vary in weight more than 3 grams.

  4. Step 4

Buy cues. High quality cues are integral to a good game of snooker. Like most other pieces of equipment in the game, the cues are specific and should be of regulation length and weight. Snooker cues must be at least 3 feet in length and are generally made from ash wood. A good cue doesn't have to be expensive, so shop around and test out a couple of cues before you buy.
