How to Deal With Being Too Short

Whether you can't reach the can of your favorite soup at the grocery store or your feet can't quite reach the ground when you're sitting in a chair, being short definitely has its disadvantages. But learn how to deal with your short stature and you may be able to overcome just about any obstacle.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Focus on the positives. Okay, so you haven't been blessed with long leggy looks like a runway model. But maybe you have excellent posture because you don't have to worry about looking like a giraffe in a crowd. You can also ride on a plane without twisting your legs into a pretzel, unlike your lanky seatmates. And, you're less likely to break a bone if you fall because you won't have so far to go.
Step2
Learn to laugh about it. What are you going to do about it except make the best of it? Surround yourself with people who make you feel good about yourself and who help you forget about your height.
Step3
Wear clothes that flatter your figure and your personality. Dressing monochromatically can help create the illusion of height. Stay away from wide legged pants and look for outfits that accentuate your assets. Add a few inches with heels if you feel comfortable in them.
Step4
Don't let your height define you. You are so much more than just a short guy or girl. Cultivate your gifts and don't allow being height-challenged to keep you from pursuing your dreams.
Step5
Get inspired. Read about others who didn't let their stature get in the way of their success. Look at the list of famous short people at the Short Support website (see Resources below).
Step6
Appreciate what you have. Consider how lucky you are to have a body that moves the way you want it to, small as it may be.
