How to Design a Logo Umbrella
An effective way to advertise your business is to print your logo on commonly used items such as T-shirts, handbags and umbrellas. Umbrellas have a way of reaching an audience that T-shirts might not. For example, a colleague may use your logo umbrella at a formal golf outing where a T-shirt may not be appropriate. Here's how to make and design a logo umbrella.

1
Find a company that has a proven record of imprinting logos on umbrellas. Not all companies that imprint logos on T-shirts also imprint logos on umbrellas. Do your homework and look for a company that specifically imprints designs on umbrellas.
-
2
Create a logo. When creating the logo, avoid small images. Designs with small images tend to blur and are hard to recognize from a distance. Make the logo large enough to be read or viewed from afar. After all, umbrellas are used in inclement weather or on a golf course. Either way, you want the logo to be seen, recognized and not confused for something it isn't.

3
Scan or digitize the logo design. If the logo is designed by hand, scan it into an acceptable format for the printing company. If the logo was designed by computer software, you already have a digitized version of the logo.
-
4
Save the file in a format that the imprinter can accept (usually .eps or .tiff) and at a size that's large enough (dots per inch, or DPI) once you print it.
-
5
Submit the artwork to the imprinter.
-
6
Select the umbrella quality and quantity. After spending time and effort on coming up with the right logo design for your umbrella, make sure the umbrella quality is worthy of the design. Why use cheap umbrellas on a spectacular design, or visa versa? Match the quality of design with the quality of umbrella.

Tips & Warnings
The printing company can tell you how many DPIs your particular logo should be to print well on the umbrella.
Consider the logo colors when picking out umbrellas. Color contrast is key to a successful umbrella logo design.
Pricing is a function of quantity. The more umbrellas you order, the cheaper the price per umbrella.
Get a sample or proof before the umbrellas are printed. Once they are printed, it's difficult, if not impossible, to change the order or get a refund.
