How to Use Shampoo Around the House
Shampoo is formulated with a slightly higher alkaline pH to pull oil and dirt from hair, allowing to leave hair clean and shiny. Because of the way shampoo cleans hair, it can be used for a lot of other household chores.

1
Knock out soap scum on the tub and bathroom faucets. Rub on a little shampoo, rinse clean and buff to a shine with a soft cloth.
-
2
Let shampoo stand in for shaving cream in a pinch. Lather up with the softening agents in shampoo instead of bar soap.

-
3
Substitute shampoo for a super-frothy bubble bath. Enjoy your favorite scent and rinse the tub cleaner, too.
-
4
Strip hairspray from mirrors and walls. Use a wet sponge and shampoo to wipe away the hairspray, then rinse well.
-
5
Wash the car with shampoo. Use shampoo full strength on stubborn grease or hard-to-remove tar spots.
-
6
Freshen up leather shoes and purses with shampoo. Use a clean rag and rub shampoo with a circular motion into worn leather to restore the luster and color of leather. Protect them from salt stains, too.

Restore a shrunken sweater to its original size. Fill a sink with warm water and a cap full of baby shampoo and swish. Lay the sweater on top of the water and let it sink undisturbed. Submerge the sweater and soak for 15 minutes. Remove the sweater without wringing and set it in a container. Drain the sink and refill with clear water. Repeat the process. Roll it in a bath towel to remove excess water. Lay the sweater on another dry towel. Continue to gently reshape it until it dries.
