Sandwich bags have been around since 1957. Since then, we've tucked just about everything into them. Sandwich bags and freezer bags have dozens of uses all around the house, as well as out and about. The following are a few additonal ideas for using sandwich bags.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Portion cookie dough to be colored into sandwich bags. Add a few drops of food coloring. Mix the dough around until the tint is uniform throughout.
Step2
Keep a sandwich bag near the phone when kitchen chores make for messy hands. Slip a hand inside the bag to answer the phone or handle a small appliance.
Step3
Use as a temporary ice pack. Freeze a wet washcloth in a sandwich bag. Keep it on hand for the next time you accidently burn yourself. Freeze several baby washcloths to soothe teething pain.
Step4
Make thrifty baby wipes. Mix 1 tablespoon of antibacterial soap, 1 teaspoon of baby oil and 1/3 cup of water. Fold several soft paper towels and put them in a resealable sandwich bag. Add enough of the mixture to dampen the towels to make wipes.
Step5
Avoid frozen tumblers on locks. Slip a sandwich bag over the padlocks on outdoor buildings when the temperatures drop below freezing.
Step6
Save soap scraps in a sealable sandwich bag until several are collected. Drop the bag into very warm (not hot) water and watch the pieces of soap melt into a new bar.
Step7
Mix some high protein food for the winter birds. Put 1/2 cup of peanut butter in a sandwich bag with 1/2 cup of birdseed. Knead the two together until the mixture can be formed into a ball. Add more birdseed as needed. Place the ball into a mesh bag and hang it in a tree.
