Towels can become many different animals when rolled and folded in just the right way. It can be a unique way to leave towels out for overnight guests or just a fun craft to share with your kids. This easy towel origami project turns a boring bath towel into an entertaining stone crab.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Lay the large bath or beach towel out on a flat surface. Fold the long edges in to meet in the center of the towel. Fold the already folded long edges over to meet again in the center.
Step2
Open the lower edge of the folded towel, being careful to maintain the folds you made in Step 1 on the top half of the towel. Roll the section you just opened up to the center to form the claws of the crab. As you roll it up, the ends will curl inward and the roll will provide support for the crab "shell." Shape the ends of this section to look like crab claws by pushing the centers inwards and curving the ends into a "c" shape.
Step3
Fold the upper part of the towel down so the edge is tucked under the back of the support roll you just created. Then fold this part again to overlap and hang slightly over the support roll and form the top shell of the crab.
Step4
Hold the top of the figure down to hold it in place and pull the sides of the top portion slightly outwards to make the shell appear more oval-shaped.
Step5
Attach the small buttons towards the front of the shell with double-sided tape to make the eyes.
