Kite jumping is an extreme sport that uses the wind to launch riders high into the air. The key to jumping is the harness, which lets a jumper flip, spin and do other tricks in midair. Since a strong puff of wind can lift you as high as 15 feet, it's important that you know how to wear the kite jumping harness.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Lay the harness out on a clean, flat surface. This gives you a good perspective on every strap and loop while you inspect the harness for wear and tear.
Step2
Place the harness on the ground and step into the leg loops. Most kite jumping harnesses have leg loops that fit around your upper thighs and lock in at the waist. Pull the harness up around your waist like a pair of pants. Feed the slack end through the buckle and pull strap tight. The fit should be firmly snug without any pinching or constriction.
Step3
Place the harness around your waist and lock the buckle. Ask a partner to tighten the waist straps since they are likely to be located at the small of your back.
Step4
More complex kite harnesses will also have an upper body portion. Put the shoulder straps on by putting your arm through the shoulder loops, as if they were large sleeves. The harness will probably close around your sternum. Feed the strap through the buckle and tighten it, making sure that the buckle is not digging into your skin.
