The Smart Car, a microcar built and designed by Mercedes-Benz and Swatch, is a tiny vehicle that's marketed for urban environments. If you're looking for ease of parking, the ability to zip through narrow city streets or superior fuel mileage, you might try the Smart Car.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get great fuel mileage with this diesel vehicle. Tests have shown that the Smart Car can achieve 70 miles per gallon. Diesel prices are also more stable than gasoline, so this excellent mileage comes with typically lower diesel prices.

  2. Step 2

Get around town at a decent clip. While the Smart Car doesn't have impressive horsepower, it does have a surprising amount of torque. This is a critical factor for the constant starting and stopping of city driving.

  3. Step 3

Park in small spaces with a Smart Car. The vehicle is designed to be only as long as a typical car is wide. That means that for spots in which a normal car must parallel park, a Smart Car can simply drive straight in. Since you have so much room on either side, you won't be the victim of door dings and bumper rash.

  4. Step 4

Enjoy plenty of room in the Smart Car. Despite its small size and excellent mileage, this vehicle has a surprisingly large interior space. Your occupants should be able to fit into the Smart Car's thin but comfortable seats.

  5. Step 5

Stay safe in the Smart Car. It may look like an eggshell on wheels, but it's crash box is more like a tortoise shell. The Smart Car has passed all crash tests with the cockpit intact and the occupants safe.

  6. Step 6

Embrace recycling by purchasing a Smart Car. While many cars and trucks have parts recycled after their service life is complete, the Smart Car is made mostly from recycled materials.
