Instructions
  1. Step 1

Assess your skills to know where your skills lay. This helps you to make realistic career decisions for your future.

  2. Step 2

Decide what you want to study. After choosing what skills and talents you have, pick a career path that is challenging and rewarding. Choose a course of study that is interesting and marketable. This may be a challenging and difficult decision.

  3. Step 3

Locate a school that offers a program that fits your educational needs.

  4. Step 4

Make sure that the school you choose is accredited. Accreditation is a set of preconceived standards that a school must meet in order to be certified by the accrediting council. Attending a school that is accredited assures that you are getting the education you are paying for.

  5. Step 5

Take advantage of orientation once you have chosen a school. Orientation offers the opportunity to visit the campus, meet faculty, take a tour of the facilities and become familiar with your new campus.

  6. Step 6

Attend class and be on time. Do not skip class unless you are ill or there is an emergency. Most schools have an attendance policy. If you miss class extensively, you may fail your courses.

  7. Step 7

Join organizations, groups and clubs that compliment your area of study.

  8. Step 8

Take advantage of the school's resources. Know and use your library and your program advisors. They are there to help you. Know if the school offers free tutoring services. Take advantage of them if and when you need them.
