Levitra and Viagra both belong to a class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase (PDF) inhibitors that are used to treat erectile dysfunction. Recently, they were joined by a third drug--Cialis, which is a member of the same class of drugs but has a few differences. Follow these steps to compare Levitra with Viagra.

Go to the products' websites. Here you will find information about the drugs as well as any special offers that each is offering.
Step 2

Look for differences between Levitra and Viagra. These drugs are very similar; the major difference is that Levitra lasts a little longer--about 5 hours, while Viagra lasts about 4. A newer drug in this category--Cialis--is faster acting (15 as opposed to 30 minutes), and its effects last about 36 hours. Cialis and Viagra are associated with a side effects known as "blue vision," and Levitra is not.
Step 3

Talk to your doctor about Levitra and Viagra and whether either is a good choice for you. Your doctor might also recommend Cialis because it is not affected as much by what you eat and its effect lasts longer. Your doctor might make a decision on his or her own experiences with patients, or might choose Viagra because it was the first drug in its class and it has been studied in more patients.

Look for studies comparing drugs for erectile dysfunction on Pub Med. However, you will find that there have been few head-to-head studies comparing Viagra and Levitra. Also, see who funded the studies you are reading about; for example, the Erectile Dysfunction Observational Study showed some positive results for Cialis, but it was funded by Eli Lilly, which manufactures and markets this drug.
