Water balloons are usually fun for adults and children alike. But, when you attempt to fill up a water balloon and the top rim rips off, it can get frustrating. Many manufacturers have thoughtfully included an adapter to help funnel water into the tiny balloon, but these too sometimes just squirt water all over your face. Here is how to properly fill a water balloon.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy decent water balloons. You may get thousands of balloons for pennies, but do they work? It is more fun to toss around balloons filled with water than to toss around empty plastic vessels some refer to as water balloons. Buy the heavy duty balloons.

  2. Step 2

Fill the water balloons in the kitchen. Take one balloon at a time and put the entire opening around the faucet. Hold the balloon with one hand and turn on the water slowly with the other hand. A second set of hands will help with smaller water balloons that are difficult to get all the way around the faucet. Have one person hold and the other person turn the water on and off.

  3. Step 3

Turn the water off after the balloon is filled and gently squeeze the top of the balloon away from the faucet. Tie the balloon and set it aside. Place the balloons in a bucket filled with water or in a plastic trash bag for easy transporting. Don't fill the bucket or bag to capacity. Remember water is heavy.

  4. Step 4

Tie the water balloon by holding the top of the balloon with your left hand (if you are right handed). Wrap the lip of the balloon around two of your right hand fingers. Tuck the lip in between the crack of your two right fingers and pull. This will tie a knot. Hold on to the lip and bounce the balloon to make sure the knot is secure.
