on 10/5/2008 Wonderful article; However, kendo has two meanings.
The first is the underlying principles of kenjutsu.
The second is the modern sport that, though may be derived from swordsmanship, cannot be construed as such.
The samurai were involved in Kenjutsu, a style of koryu bujutsu, not kendo.
Otherwise great and quintessential article for anyone looking to purchase a bokken; 5 stars.
