1. Select clothing ahead of time. Since your yearbook picture is special, make sure you wear something that makes you look and feel good. It doesn't have to be formalwear but don't take your picture in whatever you grab when you get out of bed. Chances are good that your high school will use the same photographer every year so you should be able to find out what color backdrop you will be photographed against and plan your outfit to keep from clashing with the picture's background. Wear clothing that compliments your body type and your face and something that you will feel good about wearing.

2. Allow yourself plenty of time to get ready. Mark the date that pictures will be taken on your calendar and plan to get up a little earlier than normal that day. This will give you plenty of time to shower, shave, style your hair the way you want it for the picture, put on makeup and do whatever else you need to do to look your best. Giving yourself a little extra preparation and primping time will guarantee that you look great without having to rush or worry about being late.

3. Keep it classy. Sure, we all laugh at the person who makes the goofy face or sticks their tongue out in their yearbook picture, but very few people really want to be remembered in such an unflattering way. Show some class when posing for your yearbook picture; hold your shoulders back and your head high and act natural. This picture will be with you for a long time so make it a good reflection on yourself.

4. Avoid drastic changes. If you get the sudden urge to pierce your nose or dye your hair purple it is probably a good idea to wait to make these changes until after you take your yearbook picture. They might look cool now but remember that these pictures will be seen by everyone from your future in-laws to your grandchildren and take that into consideration before making your decision about any big changes to your appearance.

5. Remember to smile. There is nothing worse than sitting down for your yearbook picture with the perfect outfit and great-looking hair and then ruining the picture by forgetting to smile. When you take your picture, take a deep breath, relax and let yourself smile naturally.
