The theater is full of people with big egos. You don't have to join them, though. Learn how to share the spotlight graciously and not only will you be more apt to get ensemble parts because of your good attitude, you will be the bigger person.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Keep in mind that everyone has to start somewhere. The leading lady may be a horrible actress, but you must learn to graciously share the spotlight with her until it is your time to shine.
Step2
Make a point to learn from every acting experience that you have. With this in mind you can question your fellow thespians, and you can make the entire acting experience a good one. By going into each show as a student, you can take your mind off of how much better you are than everyone else.
Step3
Step aside when you encounter a true acting diva. You know the type, walks into every rehearsal as though she owns the place. Let her take up everyone's time with her whining and diva-esque behavior, and you take up your time by helping everyone out. Being the nice guy in every acting situation will help you become known as an actor that people can work with.
Step4
Share the spotlight in every scene. Acting is about expressing yourself, finding your character and translating the script to the stage or screen. It also has to be about being gracious to those who share the stage, and the spotlight, with you. Don't be a stage stealer unless the role you were cast in requires it.
Step5
Be professional above all else. If you get into a situation where you have a mutual hate for a fellow actor, be as nice as you can be in order to show your professionalism. Acting is a wonderfully fun occupation, but it is still an occupation. You must learn to work with everyone.
