How to Play Salary Cap Fantasy Football

Salary cap fantasy football is a game in which you try to make the most out of a fixed amount of money. Each NFL player is given a dollar value and you have to construct a team each week without going over the salary cap.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide where you want to play salary cap fantasy football. Yahoo! offers one of the most popular salary cap fantasy football leagues and it automatically manages the teams and stats. The salary cap on a Yahoo! league is $100.

    • 2

Spend the allowed money each week to field a fantasy team lineup. You can select different players each week or keep the same if you choose. You can spend as little or as much of the money as you want each week. The amount you can spend does not roll over to the next week, however, so it's best to use most or all of it.

    • 3

Update your team value each week if you are playing in a Yahoo! league. Click on the link labeled "Update Team Value" on your team page. This adjusts the dollar values for the current players on your roster to the amounts they are worth that particular week, as the values change week to week. The updater will only adjust salary downward and not increase it, so it is always advantageous to do this.

    • 4

Win the league by being the player with the most points at the end of the NFL season.

Tips & Warnings

  • Pick players with good match-ups. Choose running backs who are playing against bad rushing defenses and wide receivers and quarterbacks who are playing against bad passing defenses.
