There are literally hundreds of charitable organizations for children in the United States and all of them are doing great things to better the lives of children. But, with so many to choose from, how do you get involved? Use these steps to learn about charitable organizations for children and how to find one to get involved in.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Think of how you want to help children. Charitable organizations are defined by what they support and the area they help. This may be health, safety, livelihood, education or other areas. Decide what area you want to help in and you will be off to a great start.
Step2
Research charitable organizations for children in the aid area in which you are interested. Take children's health organizations for instance. There is an organization working towards a cure for everything from autism to spinal bifida. Decide which you would like to be a part of - many people base this choice on something by which they have been affected.
Step3
Find a local office for the charitable organization for children you have chosen. In order to get involved immediately, you want to make sure there is a local office in action. If there is not a local office in your area, consider contacting the organization so you can help start a local chapter or office in your area.
Step4
Decide whether you want to donate your money, your time or both to the organization you choose. Money is always wonderful but many organizations really need people to give their time for the cause. Be a mentor through Big Brothers/Big Sisters, be a coach through Boys & Girls Club, be a scout leader, or help out at a children's clinic. Even if you don't have medical experience, you can help with filing and processing patients.
Step5
Ask how soon you can get involved. Children's organizations are often involved with children's hospitals or other homes in the areas surrounding their hub offices. Find out what events they have throughout the year and what the organization's needs are in your area to help and get your friends involved.

Tips & Warnings

  • Get your friends involved and start a mom's group in your community or neighborhood to do a fundraiser for and represent your local charitable children organization's office.
