How to Report a Rude Store Manager

Friendly sales clerks who greet customers with smiles and "May I help you?" seem a thing of the past. As a customer, I feel as though I'm intruding on the sales person's leisure time. If you feel you're being mistreated by a sales clerk and then approach the manager with no resolve, there is still something else you can do.

Instructions

    • 1

Ask for the manager's name. If she is not wearing a name badge, you will have to ask her name.

    • 2

Describe the manager. If the manager is not willing to give you her name, then write down a detailed description of her face, hair, clothing, approximate age, any unusual features, voice inflections, glasses, and so forth. Write down everything you noticed about her.

    • 3

Note the day, date and time. This is important in case the manager denies what has happened by saying that particular day was her day off.

    • 4

File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Be prepared to contact consumer news groups and media consumer reporters-most cities have at least one.

    • 5

Go straight to the top. There may be several steps before you reach the president of the company, but I found quicker results there. It's effective to copy the insulting manager, his or her boss, and those right up to the president of the company.
