The United States Green Building Council is a non profit organization that allows leaders from every sector of the building industry to come together to promote the building of environmentally responsible structures that are profitable and healthy places to live and work in.

  1. Step 1

    Learn more about the United States Green Building Council. Visit their official website to learn more about the organization, what they stand for, their goals and their mission. If the organization sounds like something you are sincerely interested in, get involved.

  2. Step 2

    Become a member of the USGBC. There are two basic types of memberships: national and chapter. Anyone is permitted to join the chapter membership tier. The national membership tier is for cooperating and full-time employees of national membership-level companies and organizations. Even at the national level, members are strongly urged to join their local chapters.

  3. Step 3

    Network with members of the United States Green Building Council. The easiest way to do this initially is by getting involved with your local USGBC chapter. Attend meetings and participate in community outreach.

  4. Step 4

    Take advantage of the membership benefits offered by USGBC. Attend the Greenbuild International Conference, Expo and LEED Training workshops. This benefits you on a professional level and is also an excellent way to network with people in the industry from all over the country.

  5. Step 5

    Become involved in the United States Green Building Council. Serve on a committee. Join a member's circle. Become involved in the activities sponsored by your local USGBC chapter and participate in legislative outreach.
