Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a good quality Masala Dabba. Make sure it's made of quality stainless steel that won't easily dent. They can be purchased at gourmet stores or online.

  2. Step 2

Choose a Masala Dabba size to fit your needs. Pick a size that will allow you to use the spices before they get too old. They range from seven to twelve inches in diameter. Twelve-inch ones are too big for most households.

  3. Step 3

Fill your Masala Dabba with the spices you use the most while cooking. If you use a lot of spices, you may want to grow them on your own. Grinding them yourself will cut down on expense and always provide a fresh supply.

  4. Step 4

Purchase a second Masala Dabba if you find that one isn't enough. Fill it with the spices you don't use as much as the ones in your first Masala Dabba.

  5. Step 5

Select spices such as ground turmeric, garam masala, fenugreek seeds, ground cumin, mustard seeds, chili powder, ground coriander, red chili powder and black mustard seeds. Use these spices if you are new to Indian cooking and aren't familiar with the spices. They are the most common ones and are found in a Masala Dabba.
