Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Contact your local Chamber of Commerce to see if there is an Asian cultural group or society in your town or city. Then contact them to see what events they have throughout the year. Requesting the chamber directory or schedule of events is a good way to have the information readily available.
Step2
Read the local newspaper. Most local papers have a community calendar or community happenings section where they list events, festivals and activities that are going on throughout the year.
Step3
Visit the Asian part of your city. If you live in a city with an Asian district, visit it and talk to the residents to find out if there is a festival held and learn all the details about it. Be prepared for a little resistance; as with any close-knit community, there may be an outsider vs. insider perception.
Step4
Check the Internet for Asian societies. They are generally broken up in more specific areas, such as the National Asian American Society of Accountants. If you are interested in a specific occupation or cultural area, this is a good way to network and meet people in the Asian culture.
