2. Do it yourself. This will require researching grants, writing the business plan, applying for the grants and making sure you follow all of the specific guidelines for each grant. This is hard work and can often be confusing for someone who has no experience with grant writing.

3. Hire a grant finding service. There are companies that help individuals and businesses find the grants that are right for them and then go through the application process with and for you, leaving all the details to someone with experience in securing grants. Call your local Small Business Administration office to ask about such companies in your area.

4. Find a business coach. A business coach can be cheaper than an all-inclusive company and offer a more tailored touch to your business plan, grant seeking and overall business. Many business coaches are independent consultants and meet with clients in a more laid-back fashion.
