Step 1
Choose a biblical topic for the sermon. Keep your audience in mind. Select a topic that inspires you. You can´t inspire others if you're not inspired first.
-
Step 2
Prepare an outline for the sermon based on your topic.
-
Step 3
Visit the Bible on the Web website. (See Resources.) You don´t need to register. Review all sections.
-
Step 4
Perform searches either by keywords or biblical scriptures, then press the appropriate button.
-
Step 5
Write your sermon once you have found the biblical passages that back-up or reinforce your sermon topic. Be authoritative in tone.
-
Step 6
Use real life experiences and examples to back-up biblical passages. Be as brief as possible.
-
Step 7
Review your sermon several times before doing it in public. Sermon preparation is not difficult and can be very rewarding. The more sermons you write, the more you want to do.

on 10/24/2009 Horrible advise! Don't "choose" a Bible topic, ask the Lord what it is He wants the congregation to digest, not something that makes you "inspired". The coming judgment doesn't inspire many, but it is in the truth and that's what sets people free. Find scripture references that support your topic IN CONTEXT!! I want a new Ferrari and I ask but have not yet received... Don't lean on your own power to preach with "authoritative tone" rather depend on the power of God, trust me He doesn't need yours. His power is much stronger. Want to know how to write a sermon? Get on your knees in a quiet place, seek His face. If you exalt them in your own power than you must keep them exalted in your own power. Humble yourself and He will exalt in due time. (1Cor. 2:5, Ro 1:16)

on 10/12/2009 You ought to be ashamed. No one with any respect for Scripture or God would offer such "advice." This is advice only for charlatans. Pure garbage.

on 8/21/2009 Great tips! One of my favorite place to go for sermon outlines and ideas is preachit.org - It's pretty cool because you can search within the text, search authors, search bible books or even by topic. God Bless!
