How you or your children behave at a gravesite is extremely important in showing your respect and sorrow to the family and for the deceased. While etiquette is not outwardly talked about in our current generation, the rights and wrongs of how to act should be taught to your children, especially in the respects of death. Use these steps to learn more about how to behave at a gravesite.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Find a sitter. If your children are not old enough to understand what is going on, then find a babysitter for them. Kids can often be a distraction and this is one place that is not appropriate for them to be running around and playing.
Step2
Follow the burial site rules. Many burial sites or cemetery owners have rules and regulations that need to be followed. This may include what is appropriate to put at the gravesite and if animals are allowed in the cemetery or not.
Step3
Understand the family's wishes. Some families may only want flowers brought, some may not want anything. Make sure that you are invited. If you are not sure that it is appropriate for you to go to the burial, just ask.
Step4
Use common sense. Do not smoke, yell, talk on your cell phone or chat with others during the burial ceremony. Use common sense and keep those grieving in mind.
