Step 1
Visit the online website for the IRS. Here you can download and print IRS forms, publications and instructions for free. Just click on "Forms and Publications" on the IRS website.
-
Step 2
Go to your local library. Many local libraries will have boxes of IRS forms for the taking. You can obtain common forms such as the 1040 form, among others, at the library.
-
Step 3
Stop by your USPS office. Post offices also have tax forms free for the taking. Make sure that you stop by the post office early in the year so you can obtain forms here before they run out.
-
Step 4
Talk to your accountant or tax professional. If someone else is doing your taxes for you, they will have all of the forms that you need. If for some reason, you need a copy of a form for yourself, they will be able to help you find the form or forms that you need.
-
Step 5
Get IRS forms from tax software. Tax software programs, for sale at many office supply stores, have tax forms imbedded in them. Purchasing tax software will give you access to all of the IRS forms that you may need.
-
Step 6
Purchase tax forms from an office supply store. Office supply stores sometimes sell packages of paperwork that are necessary to fill out and file your taxes. These packages will include the forms that you will need for basic filing.
