The federal government has made it much easier for businesses to file and pay their taxes online. It's no longer necessary to fill out payment booklets, attach a check, buy stamps and mail. Now it's as easy as signing onto a website and making a few clicks of the mouse button.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Visit the federal government's Electronic Federal Tax Payment System website. EFTPS is a free tax payment system provided by the U.S. Department of Treasury that allows both individuals and business to pay their federal taxes online.
Step2
Enroll your business with the EFTPS site. Before you can pay your federal taxes online, you must enroll your business. You can register your business by completing the forms on the website or by calling (800) 555-4477 and requesting the forms via postal mail.
Step3
Log on to EFTPS. Once you have completed your enrollment, visit the EFTPS site and click on the "Login" link. To login, you must have your business employer identification number (EIN), personal identification number(PIN) and Internet password.
Step4
Schedule your business' federal tax payments. Once you have logged on you have the ability to make payments, schedule payments and modify tax payments for your business.

Tips & Warnings

  • If, for some reason, the EFTPS site is down and you are unable to schedule or an online payment, you are not excused from making a payment. You may use the EFTPS Voice Response System at (800) 555-3453. Follow the appropriate prompts to make your tax payment.
