Illusions have taken the magic industry to the next level, putting inconceivable notions in front of people's eyes. The most well-known magician is Houdini and for decades illusionists have been trying to accomplish some of his most difficult tricks while allowing them to make money with their skills in the entertainment business. Use these steps to learn more about becoming an illusionists and how to make money as an illusionist.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Understand what an illusionist does. An illusionist is much like a magician without most of the props and showmanship. A good illusionist will be his own prop. They create "magic" by making something appear to be doing something it could otherwise be conceived as impossible to do such as move a table on its own or make an object levitate.

  2. Step 2

Study and practice to become the best illusionist you can be. The best way to do this, if you have no experience in magic or illusion at all, would be to try to work as an apprentice for a current illusionist. Think Criss Angel, David Blaine, David Copperfield or many others.

  3. Step 3

Decide how you would like to use your illusion skills to make money. If you are thinking big, think Vegas shows, or on a small scale, start promoting yourself and doing shows at parties or local theatres. Word of mouth, a good reputation and great illusion skills are what will make you popular.

  4. Step 4

Perform often and stay on top of your game. You will need to perform often and at various places to be able to make consistent income from working as an illusionist. You will also need to keep developing your skills and premiering new tricks to stay at the top of your industry and keep audience attention.
