A position as a Winston West race official is highly desirable. You get to be on the track at every race and get paid for it. It can be a tough position to acquire without previous experience. Follow these steps to learn how to become a Winston West race official.

  1. Step 1

    Learn the basics of racing. You will also need to learn, understand and enforce the NASCAR rule book. Make sure to study it from front to back as you will be held accountable for knowing all the information in it.

    Get experience by volunteering at the track and shadowing a Winston West race official. The best way to learn a trade is to volunteer and shadow the best in the business.

  3. Step 3

    Gain an understanding of mechanics. You can do this by taking college courses at your junior college or a trade school. Junior college is a lot less expensive and you can apply for financial aid.

  4. Step 4
