There's nothing quite like cruising along in your convertible, on a warm and sunny summer day, with your top down. The wind is blowing through your hair; you don't have a care in the world! Until your cell phone rings. Talking on a cell phone in a convertible poses quite a problem, but can be overcome using some common sense steps.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Pull over to the side of the road. As your phone is ringing, this should be your first instinct. The number of traffic accidents involving cell phone use is increasing every day; you don't want to cause harm to yourself or anyone else by becoming distracted by your cell phone. Additionally, some states are altogether banning the use of cell phones when driving. These include Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, California, Washington and the District of Columbia. Other states have other laws restricting their use.
Step2
Turn your radio down. After you've pulled over, you'll want to adjust the volume on your stereo so you'll be able to hear better.
Step3
Roll your windows up. This will help to reduce wind noise and help the quality of your telephone call. It's hard to hear when your telephone is picking up noise from the wind.
Step4
Put the top up. If there is a lot of noise around you (construction, road noise or other sorts), putting your convertible top up will help reduce this. You'll be able to hear better, and the conversation won't be hindered by the noises of big trucks passing.
Step5
Use your bluetooth hands-free accessories. If you have accessories for your cell phone that allow you to talk hands-free, have these ready to use if your phone rings.
