If you find your stretch marks to be unsightly and embarrassing, consider having professional microdermabrasion treatments to fade them. Microdermabrasion is a safe and non-invasive treatment that can provide you with painless results and improve the texture and appearance of your skin.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Call dermatologists' offices. Ask about microdermabrasion treatments specifically geared to treat stretch marks. Find a dermatologist who has experience in treating stretch marks.

  2. Step 2

Show the dermatologist your stretch marks. Faded, white stretch marks and new, red stretch marks respond differently to microdermabrasion treatment. Allow the dermatologist to inspect your skin tone and type so that he can suggest a course of treatment.

  3. Step 3

Adhere to the dermatologist's schedule. Dermatologists usually suggest between 5 and 12 sessions for best results. You are not likely to see improvement after your initial session. For optimum results, complete the number of sessions that your dermatologist suggests.

  4. Step 4

Undergo your first session of between 30 minutes and 2 hours. The length of the session will be determined by the severity, age and appearance of your stretch marks.

  5. Step 5

Return for repeat sessions every 2 weeks. Although it may be tempting to rush treatment, your skin needs time to recover from each session. Be patient and don't try to rush the process.

  6. Step 6

Maintain your treatments as per your dermatologist's instructions. Some dermatologists may give you instructions to follow at home to maintain the results of your treatments.

Tips & Warnings
  • Microdermabrasion will not completely fade or prevent stretch marks, but it can diminish the marks.
