Home microdermabrasion kits are inexpensive alternatives to professional treatments. Using the kit, you can reduce fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and skin discolorations at a fraction of the costs for professional treatments.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look for a microdermabrasion home kit that includes all the tools necessary for a home microdermabrasion session. An all-inclusive kit should contain creams, sponges, applicators and a toner, gel or moisturizer.

  2. Step 2

Check the creams, gels, toners and moisturizers for ingredients. Look for products that contain Vitamins A, C and E. Use creams with aluminum oxide crystals, antioxidants and skin-soothing agents, such as shea butter and cucumber extract.

  3. Step 3

Verify that the cleansing gels include natural ingredients, such as lemon, grapefruit or eucalyptus extracts. These soften and ready the skin for microdermabrasion. Moisturizers should contain wheat, oat, green tea or aloe vera extracts to promote healing. Sunscreens must be at least SPF 30 to protect your skin from damage after a home microdermabrasion session.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't hesitate to try different home microdermabrasion kits. A kit that works for a friend may show only minimal results on you.
  • Generally home microdermabrasion kits don't measure up to professional treatments. Be realistic in your expectations.
