Step1
Leave the jewelry at home. Bracelets, anklets, pendants, and other baubles can get in the way of a swing, or otherwise complicated play. Plus, things like earrings are easily lost or fall underfoot. Lock up your valuables before going on court.
Step2
Lose the sweater. A handily knotted cashmere around your shoulders is fine for your "squash entrance" onto the court, but find somewhere to stow it while you're playing. Same goes for sweatshirts, and if you don't think a good game of squash will heat you up, it will. Wear only the essentials on the court to prevent overheating.
Step3
Get good shoes. Seriously, really comfortable and sporty shoes are a must for any kind of active sport like squash. No street shoes on the court; that's a given. But getting the right shoes goes far beyond that. You need a shoe with a sole (no flat-sole sneakers) and a shoe that will cushion your foot while you lunge across the court. You might have to spend a little more for maximum comfort, but it's worth it.
Step4
Consider a headband. If you have long hair, it's going to be flying into your face on the backswing. A headband also keep sweat from running into your eyes, and can be an advertisement for your favorite franchise.
Step5
Go in style. Find your groove, whether it's a straight black and white ensemble or a true retro vibe with colorful striped socks and shorts. Your colors represent you on the court, make them your own.
