Your feedback profile at eBay is a tool that you can use to gain confidence from the trading community so that people will want to do business with you. Keeping your feedback public is not only a good idea if you want to sell on eBay, but it is required. If you choose to make your feedback private you will be allowed to buy on eBay but not sell.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Log into your eBay account and click on the "site map" link that is at the top on the right side of most eBay pages.
Step2
Click on the "make feedback public or private" link. You will find this in the far column on the right side of the page under the "feeback" title.
Step3
Choose the "Make your Feedback Profile private" option.
Step4
Save your preference by clicking on the button marked "Save" at the bottom of the page.
Step5
Log out of your eBay account and log back in to see the change show. Your feedback will now read "Private"

Tips & Warnings

  • If you decide to put your feedback back to public, you can change it the same way that you changed it to private. When you get to the page where you have to indicate your preference choose the option that says "Make your Feedback Profile public."
  • EBay allows you to buy with a private Feedback Profile, but not sell. However, some sellers might choose not to sell to you if your feedback is private. They will state in their auction description that only members with public feedback are allowed to bid.
