There are two new formats for watching movies at home, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray format. Each of these formats gives sharper pictures than DVDs and may even provide a better picture than your local movie theatre. The cost for Blu-Ray players continues to come down too, and they're easy to buy. If you've invested in a Blu-Ray player, you may be wondering how to buy Blu-Ray movies.

From Quick Guide: Blu-Ray Guide
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Shop around. Since Blu-Ray is a new technology, the cost of movies will be high, higher than DVD movies. Places such as Best Buy and Circuit City that sell Blu-Rays often sell them for the highest prices.

  2. Step 2

Buy Blu-Rays on sale. Many businesses will promote Blu-Ray movies by having great sales on them. Many new movies coming out in Blu-Ray format are on sale the first week they come out. Check the ads in your local newspaper.

  3. Step 3

Shop online. Amazon and eBay all sell Blu-Ray movies for cheap prices. Many of the auctions on eBay for Blu-Ray movies are brand new and are still in their plastic wrap. There are also websites that sell Blu-Ray movies and players and provide more information about this new technology.

  4. Step 4

Build your collection slowly. While new Blu-Ray movies come out every week, it will take you some time to build your collection.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't get rid of your DVD player. Remember, not all new movies will come out on Blu-Ray. Many movies are being put out on HD-DVD format. You may still need to buy movies in DVD format.
