How to Build a Dice Tower

Dice towers help random dice rolls stay on a table. A dice tower is a small tower that sits on a table that allows players to drop the dice for a random roll of the dice. This durable lightweight tower is easily made in about 1 hour.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay 1 7¾-by-3½ inch piece of plywood on a flat surface. Place the other 2 same sized boards on the side edges of the bottom piece. Glue these 2 boards to the bottom board and then turn over. Screw the sides in on the top corner and the bottom corner of each board. At this point the tower looks like the letter "C."

    • 2

Cut a small indention into one of the side boards, 1 inch from the top. This allows one of the 3-inch boards to slide in at a 45-degree angle. Measure to the middle of the 7¾-inch board. Cut another notch into the other side to fit at a 45-degree angle. Measure 2 inches from the bottom of the first side board and cut a notch the same way as before. One side of the tower now has one cut, while the other side has two.

    • 3

Glue the 3-inch boards into the first 2 notches you cut at a 45-degree angle. Glue the side edge and the back edge of the 3-inch boards. Place the 5-inch board into the bottom notch and glue it in the same manner as before. Allow the glue to dry. These are the boards that roll the dice randomly.

    • 4

Lay the 8½-by-4 inch board flat. Frame the outside of the board with the 1-by-8½-inch boards and the 1-by-4 inch boards. Glue the frame to the base and then screw it on at the corners. This piece is the tray that fits on the bottom for the dice to roll out onto.

    • 5

Place the felt in the bottom of the 8½-by-4 inch board inside of the frame. Glue the felt to the bottom.

    • 6

Screw the 6-by-3½ inch board to the front of the 45-degree angle boards. This leaves a 1¾-inch gap at the bottom where the 5-inch board is glued. You now have the rectangular tower and tray.

    • 7

Place the tower into the back of the tray and drop the dice from the top of the tower.
