How to Remove Spray Paint From Vinyl Siding

Whether it was a mistake or an act of vandalism, it's time to get that spray paint off of your home's vinyl siding. Luckily hardware stores have several options to help you out. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Try Goof-Off. Goof-off is a cleaning product that can be used on many different surfaces. Because it is a solvent, it should dissolve the spray paint. However, it shouldn't dissolve your siding or the paint on your siding. Gradually apply the liquid, non-aerosol variety with a rag.

Try Oops. Oops works in the same way as Goof-off. Apply the liquid variety, a little at a time, to the spray-painted area.

Paint out the spray paint. Start with a primer to cover the spray paint's uneven texture. Then paint over the affected area. Since paint colors can be hard to match, you may end up painting the entire side of a building.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider applying a protective coating to your home's siding. Protective coats make graffiti and spray paint removal easier.
