Most people receive more email than they have time to read. If you find the opening and clicking of deleting email to be cumbersome and time consuming, you can delete your Gmail email with a keyboard shortcut.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to the Gmail website and log into your account. Click on the inbox to access email messages.

  2. Step 2

When you find an email message you want to delete, click the check box next to it. You can select as many emails as you want at one time. You can select messages on multiple pages by using the links at the top of the inbox to move back-and-forth between pages. Review the emails to make sure it safe to delete them.

  3. Step 3

Delete the messages with the keyboard shortcut. Once you have selected the messages you want to delete, hold down the shift button on your keyboard. With the shift button down, press the "#" sign key. This number sign key is located above the "3" on a standard keyboard.

  4. Step 4

Check the trash folder to make sure all the emails have been moved. The messages will go to the trash folder and automatically deleted by Gmail in 30 days.

  5. Step 5

Get rid of emails in the Gmail trash folder. Put a check in the check boxes next to the emails, and then click the "Delete Forever" button at the top of the window.
