There are only a few women out there who were lucky enough to be born with naturally long, curled eye lashes. Luckily, it does not take a team of beauty specialists to get the dramatic eye lashes you want.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Eye lash curler
  • Lengthening mascara
  • Eye lash comb
  • Hair dryer
  1. Step 1

Make sure your eye lashes are clean and free of makeup before starting. Using an eye lash curler after mascara has been applied can cause sticking and breakage. It also gunks up your curler.

  2. Step 2

Set your blow dryer to a hot setting. Heat the eye lash curler by holding it up in front of the hair dryer for 5-10 seconds. This is the same principle as using a hot curling iron for hair. The heat will help to set and retain the curl.

  3. Step 3

Begin at the base (near the eyelid). Place your lashes in the curler and clamp down gently, holding for at least 5 seconds. Slide the curler up to the middle of the lashes and clamp down gently for about 2-3 seconds. Make your way to the tips and clamp down for about 2 seconds.

  4. Step 4

Reheat the eye lash curler with the hair dryer before starting on the other eye.

  5. Step 5

Curl the lashes on the other eye using the same method as before.

  6. Step 6

Take the wand out of the mascara and scrape of any excess on the mouth of the container. You can also wipe the excess off on a cloth or paper towel.

  7. Step 7

Apply the mascara using a light, sweeping motion from root to tip. Roll the wand slightly along the way. Do not overcoat the lashes, as they will begin to clump and look heavy.

  8. Step 8

Separate any lashes that have stuck together using the eye lash comb. Use a light, sweeping motion from root to tip.

on 10/30/2008 Thanks for this! I've tried it before---just be careful when you first put the eyelash curler up to your eye after heating it--it can burn you if you're not careful!
