The relationship between you and a bodybuilding trainer is an intimate one built on trust. From Quick Guide: Bodybuilding for Beginners
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Speak with someone at your local fitness centers. Usually for the price of joining the gym, a personal trainer is part of the package. Fitness centers do this because they don't want you getting injured. However, the quality of a bodybuilder trainer can range from someone with no education or certification to someone who has college degree in physical fitness science.

  2. Step 2

Ask questions about the trainers such as their education and experience. You want someone who is capable of helping you meet your specific goals, as well as one who loves his job.

  3. Step 3

Meet with perspective bodybuilder trainers. Talk with them about your schedule, any health concerns, and of course, your goals for bodybuilding gains. Make certain your trainer is interested in you and is giving you his undivided attention during the interview. If he's disinterested during the interview, chances are he will be apathetic with your training, too.

  4. Step 4

Watch trainers while they work with others. Decide if you like his personality and training style based on these interactions.

  5. Step 5

Ask for references and check them out. Better yet, get a referral from a friend, relative or neighbor who has already chosen a bodybuilder trainer. Some trainers may also have a website you could view.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check out your local colleges and universities for their fitness centers. Often you can find very dedicated trainers there for a reasonable price. The only caveat is that the campus athletes are given priority, but they will have a set schedule as to when they train. Make sure it meshes with yours.
