Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Step1
Inspect the Corvette carefully before deciding to restore it. Make sure the body is sound, that it has many of the original parts and that the parts work. Even be prepared to inspect the bottom of the car. If you are not comfortable with this inspection, bring someone mechanically inclined with you.
Step2
Go to swap meets to find original or correct parts. Also go to junk yards. You might be able to find parts for your Corvette there without paying as much as from a retailer.
Step3
Purchase a NCRS Technical Information Manuals or "Complete Corvette Restoration and Technical Guide" by Noland Adams. Such manuals can help you in the restoration of your vehicle.
Step4
Become familiar with the rules of the either Bloomington Gold or National Corvette Restorers Society. The rules state what is acceptable in a restored vehicle.
Step5
Decide the level of restoration you wish to do on your Corvette. To restore a Corvette to original condition is usually very expensive. Because of the expense, you should consider how often you are going to drive the vehicle.
Step6
Consult with a Corvette club or organization as you do the restoration of your vintage Corvette. They offer excellent advice and feedback. Two such organizations are VetteNet and the Corvette Blog.
